LOT 5 - Natural Gogotte Formation-sand&calcium carbonate, millions of years old- 20lbsĀ  11oz and 15" x 9"
Description

From a separate estate: Weighing 20lbs 11oz and measuring 15" x 9", this Gogotte statue is not just a piece of natural history; it is a timeless artwork that bridges the gap between geology and modern sculpture. The name “gogotte” was coined by French geologist Claude Guillemin (1923- 1994), inspired by the children’s book series Babar the Elephant. In one of the books, a group of monsters called Gogottes are shown hiding behind rocks.

This exquisite Gogotte statue is a stunning example of nature's artistry, formed over 30 million years ago. Originating from the Fontainebleau region in France, this natural sculpture is composed of fine, silicate sand bound together with calcium carbonate, creating an intricate and mesmerizing structure.
